Change of Pace, and not the Picante sauce.

For the last year I’ve been back and forth on choosing what style of diet I enjoy the most. Low calorie, no red meat, low carb, low sugar, low glycemic.. Bouncing all over the place. I can say with some reasonable certainty that all of them made me feel about the same, while some were obviously healthier than the others and easier to maintain weight with. So I decided to try another one that seems to be a little more scientifically sound on the nutrition point of view, but also quite a bit more challenging than other dieting ventures I’ve attempted. So.. time to figure out how to get that last 10-15 lbs off, once again!
After having a nice long chat with my fianceé, we decided it would be nice (and beneficial) for us to try eating as vegetarians for a month and see how we like it. She has always had a passion for not eating the cute little animals (that are quite delicious), but has failed to keep chicken and turkey from the diet since it takes a large amount of time, energy, and effort to maintain a healthy vegetarian diet.
I have done a bit of research on being vegetarian and have found that it will probably be one of the better months of eating in my life. I picked up The Idiot’s Guide to Eating Vegetarian and it has an immense amount of information that really surprised me. I highly recommend everyone pick it up to at least get some insight on vegetarian lifestyle as well as nutrition. I can easily say I have a lot more sympathy and respect for those who have lived their whole lives as a vegetarian. :)
At the time of writing this, it has been about a week and a half since I started eating vegetarian and if I can keep it this interesting forever, I think I just might stay. There’s been so much variety in the flavors, consistencies, colors, and cravings in the last week that I would be hard pressed to have something bad to say about it. Well, other than my undying taste for bacon. Mmmm.
I will update with how my vegetarian journey goes as new interesting things happen :)
P.S. I launched a new nutritional energy drink this week, please check it out if you have a chance, I hope to use it supplement by vitamin B12 deficiency that will ultimately come from the vegetarian diet. It’s called Bios Life Smart Energy and you can check it out, here
